Learning to love ourselves is one of the most difficult journeys of our life. I am honored to be part of yours!
A word from Kim —
Growing up in small town Midwest, you would likely assume I lived a fairly sheltered life. In a town of 1100 people, with a graduating class of around 50, everybody knew everybody. If there was gossip to be had the whole town knew by end of week, sports were almost always top priority for the town, neck and neck with fitting into the social norm. Luckily I was born to open minded parents, who always encouraged us to express ourselves and chase our dreams, no matter the cost.
To me, Boudoir is about loving yourself for who you are, as you are. Embracing your body, flaws and all, and still having the courage to see the art and beauty in it.
I often get the question, "Why Boudoir?" There's a lot to that answer really. The biggest piece starts with myself, in multiple ways. I struggled with my self image from a young age. Between bullying and off hand comments from family members and friends, I was incredibly insecure in my body. In high-school, at 5'10" and 160 lbs, I truly believed I was unattractive, repulsive really. Looking back, it saddens me but makes me deeply grateful for the self love I have now.
Today, at the same 5'10" and a solid 240 lbs., I know I am gorgeous! I still get comments like "You'd be prettier if you lost weight". The thing is, that's their opinion, their idea of what a woman needs to look like, and I no longer determine how I feel about myself by others’ opinions. I am beautiful, I am worthy of love, and I am enough. This is exactly what I aim to instill in each person during their session.
The other side to it is, I am a caretaker by nature. I strive to make others happy, feel loved, feel good about themselves, and see their own beauty! Bring happiness to others always has, and always will fuel my own happiness. We live in a world full of hate and negativity, I have always dreamed of making at least a little difference.
When I discovered Boudoir, my soul exploded! With Boudoir I get to do exactly that, for each and every person that walks in the door. To watch someone come in nervous, self-conscious, and/or doubting themselves, bloom with confidence, turning into a total boss babe, rocking their session and falling in love with themselves, it's such an incredible feeling every time. I can’t even begin to explain the sense of joy and fulfillment it brings me.
Being part of so many journeys to self-love, is an honor unlike any other. Boudoir is my hearts calling, and I am going to continue answering for as long as I can.
